"Pieces of lasting beauty and significance, made by hand in East London."
Copa + Glas was founded in 2021 by Anthony McCarty and Bradley McWhinney in East London. Every piece in the collection is made to order, hand-cut glass set in solid copper, formed and finished entirely in our studio.
Anthony began cutting glass aged sixteen. He has worked with glass throughout his career, from an early commission on the Saudi Arabia dome in 1983, to Hotel Café Royal's 1,000-piece copper and glass lightwell with David Chipperfield Architects. Our heritage stretches further still, drawing on the 1897 Luxfer Prism glazing tradition that shaped the architectural glass of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Each Copa + Glas piece is not a product off a shelf. It is a considered object, selected for its materials, designed for its setting, and made by hand to last.
Six works in copper and glass, mirrors, lighting, and limited editions, alongside an open bespoke programme. Every piece is made to order in our East London studio.
"Twenty-six hand-cut facets set in solid copper, rigid geometry and fragmented light held in the same breath."
The Rotation Mirror is the foundational work of the Copa + Glas collection. Its form explores the tension between the strict and the organic, a geometric framework that fractures light differently at every angle and in every room.
Originally commissioned for the Burberry Regent Street flagship, the Rotation is now offered in the standard studio configuration of 26 silvered glass facets, hand-cut and set individually into a solid copper frame, hand-formed and finished in our East London studio.
No two pieces are identical. The hand-finishing process means each frame carries the trace of making.
"Rectilinear panes in a hand-formed copper grid, an exercise in proportion and the beauty of what lies between."
Named for its compositional kinship with the De Stijl movement, The Mondrian Mirror is built entirely from right angles. Each glass pane is cut to a precise specification and set into a copper grid that is hand-formed in the studio, the lines are never perfectly even, because they are never cast from a mould.
The result is a mirror that reads as architectural from across a room, and as quietly hand-made up close. It suits entrance halls, drawing rooms, and any space that rewards a second look.
Available in the standard studio proportion or as a bespoke commission adapted to your project.
"Spiralling golden-ratio geometry in copper and glass, the mathematics of nature made legible in a frame."
The Fibonacci Mirror traces the Fibonacci sequence in glass. Each section corresponds to a number in the spiral, stepping outward from the centre in the same proportional rhythm found in nautilus shells and sunflower seed-heads.
In copper and silvered glass, this structure becomes architectural. The mirror sits comfortably above a mantelpiece or fireplace, though it has equal presence when mounted independently on a wall.
The Fibonacci is the most recognisably narrative piece in the collection, an object with an argument, and a quiet elegance in how it makes it.
Born from a private commission, the Aura Wall Light began as a study of what happens when glass colour meets copper form in direct light. Each piece is specified to the room it will live in, glass finish, scale, and proportion are all adapted at commission stage.
The standard studio size is 300 × 415mm, though the example shown here was made at 50 × 65cm with an illuminated Corella Orange art glass centre pane. Each configuration is unique.
A direct homage to Wright's Prairie School palette. Clear and coloured art glass in the geometric language of the Luxfer Prism, the same tradition that shaped Wright's studio windows and our own lineage as a studio.
The Rotation Mirror reinvented in refracted colour. Each of the 26 facets holds a different piece of hand-selected coloured art glass, no two pieces identically sequenced. A celebratory work in the spirit of the original.
Our bespoke programme is open to private clients, interior designers, and architectural practices. We work from your brief, or develop one together. Scale, composition, glass selection, copper finish: everything is on the table.
Copa + Glas draws on a lineage of British glass craft that stretches back to the Luxfer Prism Company, founded in 1897. The same material intelligence that furnished the buildings of Frank Lloyd Wright and the Victorian city now informs every piece we make.
A dedicated programme for architects, interior designers, and trade specifiers, with preferential access, personal contact, and full specification support from the studio.
Handcrafted mirrors and lighting, made to order in East London. Rooted in the traditions of British craft.
